The Scholarship
The Chevening Scholarship is the British Government’s top scholarship scheme, and is awarded only to Egypt’s brightest and most promising graduates and professionals. Up to 40 Chevening scholarships are offered by the British Embassy each year to enable Egyptians to undertake postgraduate study in the UK, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with the UK and gain skills that will be of direct benefit to Egypt on their return.

The Chevening scheme is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and managed by the British Council.

In 2007/08, Chevening scholarships were supported by HSBC Bank, BP Egypt, Vodafone Egypt, Shell Egypt and British Airways.
